Continental Marriage Custom

European bridal traditions is a wonderful way to celebrate the distinct ethnicities of Europe and their cultures surrounding love and marriage. Many of these customs have a particular significance and metaphor attached to them, whether it is for luck, prosperity or to keep the wicked souls at harbor. Some of these customs does appear unusual or ridiculous to us currently but they are deeply rooted in society and have been passed down over the years for centuries.

For instance, in France after the conventional ceremonies and the bash, it is standard to collect outside the newlyweds’ glass to smash pots and pans with them – this is known as “la charivari”. This is to wish them good luck and available them from any economical fears they may have. It is also done to tell them of the joy and excitement that their bride moment brought them, as well as to provide them more good wealth in their coming along.

Another European wedding tradition is the” Krevati”. This involves friends and family members placing money on the woman’s sleep for reproduction, heath and happiness. They often leave a small more than that and if they are very rich, they might perhaps present them with a house or a mansion!

Candied pistachios are also a German bridal tradition. They are given to all customers who attend a bride and reflect luck, wellbeing, trust and victory. They are usually pinned to the newlyweds clothing by their visitors, much like the bride rings.
